De Amerikaanse metalcore band Unearth heeft hun achtste studioalbum “The Wretched; The Ruinous” aangekondigd, dat op 5 mei uitkomt via Century Media Records. Een video voor de tweede single van dat album, genaamd “Mother Betrayal”, is nu alvast te bekijken.
Dit nieuwe album wordt het eerste zonder gitarist Ken Susi, die na een tijd pauze nu de band helemaal heeft verlaten. Frontman Trevor Phipps zegt het volgende over deze break:
It simply came time for Unearth and Ken to take a break from working together. He’ll always be a large part of the story of this band, and we wish him the best on all of his endeavors.
Over de nieuwe track zegt hij het volgende:
‘Mother Betrayal‘ is an ominous banger heavily laden with the melodic death metal, thrash and metallic hardcore combination that has signified our sound since the beginning. It kicks up the aggression and ferocity beyond previous recordings while also veering into new territories musically, vocally and structurally.
‘Mother Betrayal‘ is a warning that we are smashing past multiple ecological tipping points caused by our dependence on fossil fuels that will forever alter life on our planet.

Pre-Orders zijn hier verkrijgbaar. De band live zien kan tijdens hun tour met Misery Index, Year Of The Knife, Turbid North en Leach, waarmee ze op 2 april in Trix in Antwerpen (BE) staan en op 5 april in Dynamo in Eindhoven (NL). De band speelt op 15 juni ook op Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel (BE) en op 30 juni op Pitfest in Emmen (NL).
